Two weeks ago I had the privilege of attending the Oracle Cloud World 2023 conference, an event that showcased Oracle's commitment to a new era of collaboration and customer-centricity, aptly termed "One Oracle". The conference focused on three key pillars: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Autonomous Database and APEX. What made this experience even more special was the opportunity to speak at the event, which not only brought together a diverse and enthusiastic audience but also led to some delightful interactions and feedback.

The Concept of "One Oracle"

The overarching theme of Oracle Cloud World 2023 was "One Oracle." This concept underscores Oracle's dedication to creating a more interconnected and unified ecosystem for its customers. It was nice to see Oracle's emphasis on breaking down verticals between its various products and services, promoting seamless collaboration and integration across the board. This approach aims to make things simpler and more user-friendly for Oracle users.

AI: front and center

One of the primary focal points of the conference was the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Oracle showcased its AI-driven solutions, demonstrating how businesses can leverage AI to gain insights, optimize operations, and enhance decision-making processes. The incorporation of AI into various Oracle services was a clear indication of Oracle's commitment to innovation and its dedication to providing cutting-edge tools to its users.

The Autonomous Database

Another highlight of the conference was the discussion about Autonomous Databases. Oracle has been at the forefront of the autonomous technology revolution, offering self-driving, self-repairing databases that minimize human intervention and maximize efficiency. It is good to see that Oracle is migrating all of its products to the autonomous database, which emphasizes its belief in the technology.

APEX

APEX took center stage as the low-code platform, or perhaps even as the soon-to-be no-code platform, by empowering developers with the latest (PL/)SQL features in the 23c database. Somewhere in the near future, developers will be assisted by AI, which will generate SQL code and maybe even entire pages. Lastly, the roadmap session showcased some promising new features that I'm eager to try.

My Speaking Experience

Being invited to speak at Oracle Cloud World 2023 was an incredible honor. Sharing insights and experiences with Robot Framework to a receptive audience was a truly rewarding experience. The presence of a substantial and engaged audience added to the overall excitement. Moreover, the positive feedback and interactions with fellow attendees were a personal highlight.
